July 16 - Camp Update
To our Camp Big Cedars family,
After much prayer and consideration, we have come to a decision about Summer camps for Oklahoma. In consultation with our District Presbyters, Camp Coordinators, and Camp Directors, we will be cancelling all 2020 Summer camps. This includes Senior Camp, Intermediate Camp, and Junior Camp.
The high and lofty goal of having summer camp is to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual enrichment of our youth. Our concern about the spiritual welfare of the campers cannot be separated from doing all we can do to make our facility and operation safe for the campers physically.
This decision was not made out of fear. Our faith is most certainly not diminished by threats. Nor do we flaunt our faith in God. We simply believe prudence and wisdom must guide our decisions when parents give us the responsibility of caring for our youth.
With great gratitude, we express a heartfelt thank you for all who prepared for camp this year. This season will pass. We are expecting a greater future for the youth of the Heartland Region. Please note: If you or your families need support in light of these decisions for meals, counseling, or have any other questions, please reach out to our regional offices or Camp Big Cedars, or speak with your local church pastor.”
- Bishop Wayne Pense, Heartland America Regional Overseer We are heartbroken to make this announcement, but we believe that God will continue to work in your lives outside of Camp Big Cedars, and we can’t wait to welcome you back in 2021. We love you all.
